What is the proper Dj equipment i need for a basic Dj set.?
What kind of Equipment do i need to be a Dj.
Hi Mate,
I’m just starting out myself and i know how tricky it can be to pick the correct gear as there is sooooo much Equipment out there. Anyway the basic setup would consist of,
2 x CDJ/Turntable decks (Having two decks will allow you to crossover from song to song)
1 x DJ Mixer (This will allow a smooth transition when crossing songs over)
2 x Speakers (To pump the mix, in other words to play the music LOUD)
1 x Amplifier (This is essential to power the speakers, you wont get loud music without an amp)
Also various lighting effects are nice to create an atmosphere, moonflower effects always are an economical and effective way to light up an event, lasers create a special effect that will have the punters in a trance of wonder and the classic mirror ball will never go as stray. A FOG machine or hazer will make your light show 10x better as it transforms all of the 2D light effects into real 3D lighting beams that you can move around in. The translucent haze particles reflect light back.
I recommend Pioneer deck for digital CD playback, Techniques Turntables if you wish to use vinyl.
These are very god quality and reliable brands but also come with a hefty price tag.
For a more economical approach try some of the Citronic, Skytek or Stanton gear!
Hope this helps
