Pleyer Pianos
Pleyer Pianos the oldest piano makers are planning of redesigning their new pianos. Pleyer piano makers was established in 1757. It was founded in 1757 by Ignace Pleyel who passes away in 1931 and his son Camille took over the company. These pianos were very small and were of unorthodox designs that what we see these days. The Business is not doing so well because of the competition from Chinese and Korean piano companies. The Asian companies have more or less taken over most of their business. That is why Pleyel has now decided to bring in the new change by recreating a new shape and design to their pianos.
These new artistic designs will be creative so that it catches the eye of the people, the whole purpose of this change to increase their sales. when interviewed about this change Arnaud Marion the artistic director of Pleyer replied: pianos have help their shape for many years. They want to do something new and change the design and the shape so that it catches the eye of the people.
This is interesting, he also said that the sales has gone down from 70’s and 80’s by a mile. In 1980’s they used to sell over 40,000 pianos and now they are only selling up to 8,000 pianos each year. It is not entirely sure if their sales have gone down because of having old designs or is it because of the Korean and Chinese competition.
In the current era, we are being introduced to new technologies every few months it is really important for any business to adapt to these changes and move head to head with them. Many instruments companies have done design changes to their products in last so many years. For example the shape of guitars, keyboard pianos, drums kits and other instrument’s designs have changed from the past.
It is good that Pleyer are planning to do a new change, because it one of the recognisable companies in piano world. Over the years Pleyer have created a huge profile in the musical industry and they are all waiting for this change.
